I trust that most of you had a good Memorial Day weekend. A three day weekend is always welcome if you are anything like me! Time to catch up on chores at home and on the farm, time to see friends and family and eat some good food, and time to rest as well. I hope that everyone honored the reason for our three day weekend: Remembering those who have lost lives and loved ones in service of our great Nation. The oath that our military personnel take when entering into service embodies Memorial Day for our service members:
I DO SOLEMNLY SWEAR (OR AFFIRM) THAT I WILL SUPPORT AND DEFEND THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES AGAINST ALL ENEMIES, FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC; THAT I WILL BEAR TRUE FAITH AND ALLEGIANCE TO THE SAME; AND THAT I WILL OBEY THE ORDERS OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES AND THE ORDERS OF THE OFFICERS APPOINTED OVER ME, ACCORDING TO REGULATIONS AND THE UNIFORM CODE OF MILITARY JUSTICE. SO HELP ME GOD.
